Danielle Kwong. Art

Artist Statement
My artwork is inspired by film, specifically the thriller and film noir genres, with a particular interest in films from Hong Kong, where I was born. I want to generate tension and curiosity in my paintings by experimenting with the interaction of light, shadow, and strong tones to express mood and emotion. I frequently utilise portraiture at the base of my work, capturing faces that disclose psychological depths. My art encourages audiences to consider moral and ethical quandaries, establishing a link between the audience and the subject while contemplating the actions and emotions depicted.
